Celta completes first half of season with valuable win over Levante (0-1)

A goal by Sisto, after a great play with Iago Aspas, gave Celta the three points in last game of the first leg of the league. The sky-blues controlled the match clearly in the first half and had a hard time in the second, but the team was able to keep its advantage and go home with a valuable win.

Celta kept its patient against a Levante team which played organized on defense and did not gamble offensively. Long ball possessions looking for space that only appeared in the last minutes. The Vigo team moved the ball around and its rival eventually lost defensive order after an offensive strike, and Aspas and Sisto combined masterfully. The Dane shot pass Oier crossing the ball to the back of the net giving Celta the only goal scored in the match, much better in the first half.

In the second half Celta suffered to keep its advantage against Levante’s intensity and persistency. The home team had several good chances to score to draw the match. Ruben’s stops and its own lack of precision avoided such goal. Valuable win for Celta to close the first half of the league.
