Celta defeated Eibar once again Ipurua and took the lead in the Copa del Rey round of 16 first leg match. Cabral and Guidetti scored the skyblue goals in a clash which lost intensity as the minutes passed and ended up with a solid victory for the Vigo squad.
Celta started off in the best way possible. Three minutes into the match, after a great clearance by Riesgo on a free kick by Guidetti, Hugo Mallo placed a great delivery with his left foot which Cabral headed powerfully to the net.
The skyblues played solidly and reached Eibar’s box several times having several chances to score, but Eibar scored the draw after 18 minutes of play. Enrich scored the equalizer after a good strike in the goal area after a delivery from the left side.
The local team got into the match after the draw, but could not create good scoring opportunities, and Celta regained control of the match with ball possession and goal chances. With 3 minutes left to half time, Guidetti gave the lead to Celta with a good header after a great cross pass from Hjulsager.
The second half was less dynamic, with many stoppages in the match and less play overall. Celta was able to keep its one goal advantage without any problems. The 1-2 lead is good enough to face the second leg match at Balaidos confidently.
