RC Celta fell to Atletico Madrid (2-0) in a match in which the sky-blues had clear opportunities to take the lead. The greater attack of the red-and-white squad inclined the result in their favour.
In the early stages of the match RC Celta waited tucked in their field to go out on the counter. So came the two clearest chances of the first 40 minutes. Boudebouz and Boufal found two big saves from Jan Oblak before Griezmann put the Madrileños ahead with a great free-kick.
In the second half the sky-blue team carried the weight of the match, with good individual and team actions. However, it was Morata who extended the advantage of the red-and-white in a counter-attack. In the final stretch RC Celta tried to reduce the distance on the scoreboard without any luck.
