Mixed fortune for Jensen, Araujo and Maxi Gómez teams

Unequal luck for Denmark’s U-21 and Mexico’s senior teams. Despite beating Serbia 2-0 and finishing the group stage as Group B runners-up, the Danish side were knocked out of the U-21 European Championship with only the first team to qualify (Germany). Mathias Jensen did not participate in Denmark’s final match, suspended after receiving yellow cards in the first two matches of the tournament.

Elsewhere, Mexico qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2019 Gold Cup. The sky-blue centre-back Nestor Araujó rested in the match against Martinique, which the Mexican team were facing already qualified for the next phase. The team coached by Tata Martino struggled to beat the French department (2-3).

However, Sofiane Boufal took part in the last thirty-three minutes of Morocco’s first African Cup match. The Moroccan team beat Namibia 1-0. This morning it will be the turn of Maxi Gomez’s Uruguay, who face Chile in the decisive match of the group stage. Both teams have already qualified for the quarterfinals, but first place in Group C is at stake.
