Pape rounds off the ‘line-up’ of RC Celta youth players: 11 home-grown players

Eleven youth players in the first team, an impressive number that fills Celta fans with pride. Pape Cheikh returns home and, following the return of Santi Mina and Denis Suarez, rounds off that ‘lineup’ of players from the RC Celta academy. The 22-year-old arrives from Olympique Lyon on loan with a purchase option to strengthen the midfield.

Pape is a player of great physical deployment, with great power in ball handling, precision in the pass and an enormous capacity to energetically press and recover balls. A player with a lot of quality with the ball and intuition, strength and decision without it, he was trained in Celta’s youth categories, which he joined in 2013, and was transferred to the French club two years ago.

His return raises the number of canteranos in the first team to eleven and deepens the meaning of the motto ‘Isto vai de corazón’ chosen for this season’s successful season’s subscriber campaign.
