RFGF grants the Gold Medal for Sporting Merit to Iago Aspas

Iago Aspas does not stop accumulating acknowledgments. The Real Federación Galega de Fútbol has awarded the sky-blue striker with the Gold Medal for Sporting Merit, a great award with which the Galician football establishment honours the player’s outstanding season, in which he has won his third consecutive Zarra Trophy, as well as his entire football career.

He wasn’t the only Celta protagonist at the gala. In the Galician Goals Awards section of Radio Galega, Maxi Gómez was awarded as the 2019/2020 Best Player of RC Celta and Iban Salvador, attacker of Celta B, as Maximum Scorer of the Galician teams of 2ªB (ex aequo with Manu Justo, of Coruxo FC).

Due to different circumstances, the sky-blue players could not attend to collect the prize. María José Táboas, RC Celta counselor, was in charge of representing the Celta players at the awards ceremony.

In addition, journalist Xaime Escudeiro, the voice of RC Celta for years on Radio Galega, received a special recognition. The ex sky-blue goalkeeper Manuel Pazos, posthumously, was also awarded. Besides playing in the Vigo club, he also played in Real Madrid, Atlético and Elche.
