Antonio Mohamed’s RC Celta offered its best version so far to beat one of the greatest teams in LaLiga, Atletico Madrid. The sky-blue team played an almost perfect match, full of sacrifice, and took advantage of its scoring chances to beat the reigning Europe League champions 2-0.
Maxi Gomez opened the scoreboard as soon as the second half began, taking advantage of a slip by Godin to steal the ball, face the goal and send the ball to the back of the net with precision. Shortly afterwards, the Uruguayan came back to put a magnificent cross into the box, where Iago Aspas headed for a goal.
The Vigo team was able to increase its advantage, and in fact it did. Cabral scored a goal that, after being reviewed by the VAR, was cancelled by a very tight offside. RC Celta reaches the national squad break undefeated, with seven points after having drawn one match and won two. “Celtismo” smiles again.
