Abanca Balaídos welcomed on Monday afternoon, just hours after announcing his signing, the presentation of international U-21 Jorge Sáenz. The centre-back was accompanied in his presentation as a sky-blue player by counsellor María José Táboas and sports director Felipe Miñambres. “I will work and compete at the highest level,” said the Tenerife player, who highlighted “the team of young players and others with more experience that is being formed”.
Questioned by the mighty league start awaiting RC Celta, in which the Vigo club will face Real Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, Granada and Atlético, the Canary Islands defender acknowledged that it is a “strong” start, but in the same way he valued that for the players “it is exciting and spectacular”.
For his part, Felipe Miñambres took the opportunity to deny the rumors that in recent days pointed to Saenz as the cause of the delay in negotiations between RC Celta and Valencia CF for the transfers of Santi Mina and Maxi Gomez: “It had nothing to do, rather the opposite. From the beginning everything was clear with him and his representatives.”
After the presentation press conference, Sáenz stepped on the pitch of Abanca Balaídos for the first time, where he was received by four hundred sky-blue fans who gave a warm welcome to the footballer.
