Celtismo can proudly boast that the Spanish football team has been filled for its next two international matches with RC Celta academy players. Four players trained in the youth categories of the club are part of the squad for the two matches against Croatia and Bosnia and two of them are currently part of the first team.
Iago Aspas, Brais Mendez, Jonny and Rodrigo have been training since Monday with the national team led by Luis Enrique. Never before in the history of the club, four RC Celta academy players had concurred in the Spanish national team. In addition, Iván Villar, Celta B’s goalkeeper, and Pape Cheikh, Olympique de Lyon’s player, both sky-blue academy players, have been listed for the Spanish U-21 team.
On the occasion of this extraordinary milestone, both for RC Celta as well as for the Celta Foundation and all celtismo, the club has launched a celebration campaign under the slogan in Galician “Nada é casualidade” (“Nothing is a coincidence”) which will be present in both physical and digital media during the coming weeks. With this initiative, the RC Celta and its Foundation embrace, even stronger, its firm commitment to youth football and value the extraordinary work done to date. The sky-blue academy is already an international reference. Its future, the most ambitious and exciting in the history of the club.
