RC Celta could not take on the SS Lazio in the XXIV Memorial Quinocho, held in the Abanca Balaídos stadium. The Italian team got an early start to the match, with a goal from Immobile. Escriba’s team, with a lot of quality from midfield up, tried to achieve the equalizer, but it was again the Roman team and Immobile who scored. In the 25th minute, the Italian striker increased the away advantage on the scoreboard.
The sky-blue efforts were rewarded a few minutes before half-time. Fran Beltran received a loose ball on the edge of the area and hit the ball into the back of the net. The distances were reduced just before half-time. In the second half, RC Celta chased the equaliser with determination. Escribá refreshed the team with the introduction of substitutions and the sky-blue team fought until the last minute. The second Vigo goal did not arrive and Lazio won the trophy, a tribute to the eternal Joaquin Fernandez “Quinocho”. Cristina Fernandez, daughter of the former player and manager, the vice-president Ricardo Barros and the board member Primitivo Ferro were responsible for handing over the trophies.
